blackfarms1 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Hi all. I have been busy with work lately and the yard got away due to all the heavy rain. The wife decided she would "help" me out and try to mow the yard. I had just finished scraping the deck off and when I put it back on I did not put the height adjustment lever back were I usually mow. She of course did not know this and to make a long story short called to say the mower quit. She had slipped this front clutch till it would no longer turn the blades. It now will turn them but I think it is still slipping because it now makes a noise. Book says adjust in 3 slot from .10-.12 so I went with .11. Use to be when engaging pto it was instant. Now you can hear it slip before blades start to turn. What is the next step? The belts are new. Sorry for the long post. Sean.
DMedal Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Sure, blame it on the wife! I do that too. Doesn't work for me tho. do I understand the belts are new after the wife's help? let's assume right belts too. How polished and shiny are those pullies now? I bet they gota good sanding and buffing. a little rust on those shiny parts would help a lot, I bet. Lock up the PTO shaft somehow, and turn the engine over a little with a wrench or starter (Plug wires off, please!) slipping somewhere? -Don
