sim_3112V Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I havea huge problem. my spark plug went out in my 3112V, so i went and bought a new spark plug. And apparently when i took the oid spark plug out, where you screw in the spark, striped out so that you cant put a spark plug in. Please any help would be great. Thanks, Codi
gregc Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I would watch ebay for the correct head to come up or you can place a wanted ad in our "Classifieds". The head from ebay in Don's post above is the wrong one. Its for one of the vertical shaft engines. If you want to repair the head that you have, read this topic: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=74425 You could also get a new head that would work (Briggs #691712), but the one that you have is probably one that is no longer available. All this is assuming that you have the original engine in that tractor.
bigtenboy65 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 how stripped is it..you might be able to re tap it in the same threads if they arent totaly shreded
Bluestreak Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I had the same problem with my AC Big Ten. I took the head off and took it to a local machine shop along with a spark plug. They heli coiled new threads in while I waited and I think I paid $15. It took them only 10 minutes to do. A new head gasket was ordered but I can't remember how much I paid for that. Just remember to use a torque wrench to put the head bolts back on.

Thanks, Codi You can use Helicoils to fix that: http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/how_to/4212608.html
dentwizz Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Aircraft engines come with helicoils in them from factory to prevent that.
