Sickle Bar Mower Worth?

I wouldnt take $175 for my sickle bar, but it is working. Haban Mfg., who made these mowers, will not return phone calls, so apparantly no parts are available. You should be able to buy a replacement bearing if you can remove the old one(without destroying it) and by finding a good parts man who can identify it. I would say $175 is very high for a non-working piece, esp. since you cant order parts from the manufacturer.

I just bought a pitman bearing from Sandy Lake Implement, they are available but if the inner race is damaged you will have to have a machine shop make you one. All the bearings on these mowers should be available . All the bearings in the mower, the last time I looked, were the same as those that are in the PTO units on the garden tractors with the exception of the pitman bearings and the ones in the drive link. I generally dont give more than $75 for a parts outfit(like I have now) and no more than $125 for a repair special. A good working tight and not worn mower can bring upwards of $600. Condition of the ledgers and cutter sections is key if you are going to use it, since parts are not available. I have found though that the sections from the old Jari sickle mowers and similar will fit for replacements, but the rock guards will not(wrong pitch). Sam

Jordan. The sicklebar is definately not a "parts outfit". It has some surface rust but otherwise very good. It does need a new bearing, but you could run it for a short time without replacing to test. I wouldn't want to press my luck just run a very short time. You can still read all of the safety/warning stickers on it even. The bearing replacement looks to be the only repair needed. Brent

I am looking at a Sickle Mower for my B-110/B-112. Have not seen it but the owner says it is in pretty good shape except it needs a pitman bearing. Are these stiil available? He is asking $175, is this low, high or about average? I've heard these are very rare. Thanks, Jordan.

Scored a haban sickle mower, judging form pictures I've seen on here, at an action. All moves free, don't look like it had much use, but I have no clue what it was mounted on, sure don"t look like it bolts under a B112, any help on how to identify? thanks,
