'64 Broadmoor 303 engine replacement

I went to my local Simplicity dealer to get a replacement engine for my '64 Broadmoor, and was told that they don't make a replacement because the original engine (142701) has a "special pan" The engine was locked up and they said they could rebuild it. I called today (two weeks later) to see how it was coming, and they said they couldn't get the pulleys off so they hadn't done anything! (thanks for calling me) Heres my question: Can I buy a new B&S engine (8 hp)to put in my tractor? If so how hard will it be to make it fit? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
