firefoxz1 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I got the decals last week or so and got them put on today. This can be officially classified finished:D:D. PhanDad Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Lookin' good. Gonna work it or keep it in show condition?
MPH Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 You sure did a fine job on that one. Deserve to be proud.
firefoxz1 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 I've got enough workers so this one should be able to be kept for "pleasure". Chrome pieces need attention and a good original seat maybe, but that stuff will wait till I get lucky^ with a sale/auction.
midnightpumpkin Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Nice job. The decals really make it look new!
Tacey Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Top-shelf stuff. Pat yourself on the back one time for me. Daytime photos are better. If you have a "before" shot, that is always neat to see, too. Beautiful work. Tacey
firefoxz1 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 This 3012 is really a combination of two tractors and a few parts from a 3rd. First one was the 3012V which I took the front half with the rebuilt engine (paper work I got confirmed this) but the variable was totally messed up on it. The second was a 3212H that the front half burned up on but had a rebuilt Vickers rear untouched. This is the only before shot I could find of the actual 3012 but after I already removed the hood and grill. The date of the picture is 29May05 so that is about when the project got started:(. msiebern Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Very fine job on it! I recently acquired a 3012V and it is one of my favorites. Where did you end up getting your decals? They look really nice and set it off perfectly! Great job!
firefoxz1 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Some daytime photo's. It's already getting dirty and should wash it:(. Mike, I got the decals from a link in the resource section of this site. F&S Decals and they are on E-Bay. comet66 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I'm certain it didn't look that nice when it came out of the factory.
rsnik Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Homes for Simplicity guys should have an door that lets you roll a fresh restoration into the living room or den so it can stay there while the paint cures and you can look at until it gets past the "too purdy to get dirty" phase and you take it out and use it. Outstanding work and a lot of it. Congratulations. Owning a tractor that nice that is your work must feel real nice! dOddOddOd
Willy Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hey Tom You done yourself proud , it's a thing of beauty. Very nice.
perry Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 super nice. im in the process of doing my 3112 right now.
ehertzfeld Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Nice job there! We going to see it at Colchester in the fall???
Roy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Thom, Just noticed the white seat. Where did it come from? And, why white? Thanks,
firefoxz1 Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 It looks good in person but not great. If I find a place close I may get some things rechromed, I think that will make a big difference. Jonathon, Parts and the semi-assembled front half of the tractor did live part of it's life indoors:D. The paint on most of the parts was well cured before I even assembled it. Note: once assembled to this point it was given another coat as an assembly. Elon, I was hoping to bring it to Colchester but not sure on hauling two back on my little 5x8 trailer. I am going to have to try some sort of test fit:D. Roy, Must be your CRS acting up because I answered that question before:D. The seat came from Matt at S/F. I like the way it looks and only wish it didn't say Toro on it:(.
gregc Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 You did a fantastic job Thom! Looks Great! 8D8D8D I like your choice of rear tires too. ;)
