7016 resurrection throttle cable connects to ?

Hi I'm putting this thing back together. Bought it early last summer. It was neglected outside for 8-10 years.... Various things were tampered with ect... Anyway, I am not sure where the carb end of the throttle cable connects? Seems stange, but I can't put my finger on it. I've included pics. I have the cable in there on a whim. Any help would be appreciated. you appear to be missing the bottom elastic nut as well. The bottom one is for setting you high end RPM`s and the top nut is for setting your idle RPM`s.

Hi guys. Great info. Are you saying there should be 2 nuts on the top of the throttle rod? I have briefed over the setup in the manual. Guess I'd better look it over more closely since I will have to set one of them for sure! Working through the wiring harness tonight. Mice had chewed thru almost every wire. Not a problem. The wires are old and brittle. New won't hurt anything. Appreciate your help and comments. My biggest worries are if the rearend is any good. I've not owned a hydro. This one is pretty rusty. I have been soaking things with WD-40 most any chance I get. Might be OK. Need the engine running though.... Thanks again. Rick

You need the bottom nut to hold a true stopping point for high no load idle speed of 3600 RPM's. You don't need to nut above the bracket unless you desire to create a governed low idle speed. This is really not necessary on these tractors and normally you would would set a static idle speed on the carburetor.

Any briggs I have ever seen has two nuts just like in the pictue. Yours is the only one that i have seen that doesn`t have the second nut. I would just spend the 50 cents for the nut and set the bottom nut at 3600 rpm`s.

Use a tachometer like the one at the site below. These are simple, inexpensive and work well. http://manddsmallengine.com/briggs/tools/19200.htm Bob

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
