Jroy Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 i bought a starter generator on ebay but it doesn't have the pulley. I'm going to tractor supply tomorrow would any one know the dimensions of the gen.pulley and if it is aluminum or cast iron. thanks
JimH Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 James, my newly rebuilt s/g has a cast, 2&3/4" OD pulley. 1/2" opening at outside. ID look's to be 5/8" My re-builder recommended the larger dia. pulley which spins the motor faster for better starts. Good luck.
dentwizz Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Watch out though for electrical generating rate. The higher drive ratio on the engine direction also means the generating aspect is slower when engine is running. It is a bit of a trade off.
orangebgood Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Send me a message if you can't find one I think I has a spare.
Zach Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Dentwizz has a good point. If youre engine doesnt spin fast enough with the stock pulleys you have other issues that should be dealt with and done right. I would think that you are better off using an original pulley so that the charging rate doesnt get screwed up.
