cojo92 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Today i pushed out the b12 from the back of the garage (too a while ot get her out). Shes been sitting since she caught fire last summer...yes she did catch fire! and it sacred me so much cuz i was driving it, i think it was the mouse nese in it that caught. because it was comming from the sheilds. no biggie tho. So i finally started to get around to cleaning her up. Springs just around the corner and this ones gonna beon garden duty this april :D Ok heres some pictures of todays progress before my camera died.XX( B) Could this be part of a hi/lo that was on it? could never figure it out... i've slowly been colecting parts that i needed to make it completly factory and so parts that need replacing... got this gaurd from perry (his ebay store) and this lightbar at colchester last fall ;) Lights on the original light bar... also got a new briggs muffer at colchester but was gonna be for the b-110 but the b-12's is wicked baddly rotted and i member that it shot pices of the metal at my leg and face as i was driving it last summer B) my camera died but i got the front grille off and the tank out and the carb off. and the engine unbolted but didnt get to lift it out yet.sm02 Thanks for viewing!:) hope you liked the pictures :D PS: anyone no what this is on the right side??? Is it stock?? ---------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Rebuilt the carb. put it in a ultrasonice jewrly cleaner and it came out like new . put new carb parts in it (not all new parts) and waiting to paint it this comming weekend when its gonna warm up a bit. BEFORE: (srry no upclose pics) AFTER: New and old float comparison:
dentwizz Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 That is really good looking for having a fire:O. Mice are evil! That device in question looks like a cable or spring mount. I think the sickle bar had one there.
cojo92 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Really oh and theres a hydro lift pulley on the drive shaft! =] i think at one time the original owner had every attachment and lifts and such on it :p
ReedS Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Mike, The rear pulley is definitly the remains of a hi/lo. The little tab in the last picture is for a sickle bar. Keep up the good work!
dmsmitty2004 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'd say you have a pretty good start there! Since your this far are you going to paint it?
MPH Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Seems I've read here the hydro lift pullies were standard on some models from the factory for a few years, maybe cheaper then stocking two different systems.
Chris727 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Nice B-12. I think the 12hp models came with the pulley, both my B-12s and the B-212 had them.
cojo92 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 ok thanks guys. today i pulled the carb apart and im getting ready to put it in the ultra sonic cleaner. just soaked it in carb cleaner thismorning. got some new carb parts for it too! :D
Killer_A-C Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 That bracket is part of the sickle bar support..
johnmonkey Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Looking good so far, keep up the good work. jh
JimH Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Your off to a good start. Good luck and keep the pics coming.
HubbardRA Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I would not paint the main carburetor body, just the steel tube that goes up to the air cleaner. Because of gas leaks and such, you usually can't keep paint on a carb.

Ok yeah i many just paint the throut. i painted my b110 carb and your right some of the paint became like flaky once i started using it.
dentwizz Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 As long as you clean it well, scotchbrite it and lightly dust Zinc-chromate primer on (not heavy) it should paint just fine. As long as there are no rubber or plastic parts present, it also helps to put heat on it (like baking) for a short while after painting. When I was in aircraft we would do that all the time. The paint had to be stripped to inspect it but it had to be repainted to prevent corrosion.
