Guy 0 Posted April 16, 2001 Hi, In the reassembly process of my 23D and am at the point where I am checking the end gap on the Rings, What should I use for this measurement? Standard bore, new piston and rings. Thanks Guy
dlcentral 1 Posted April 18, 2001 Std size is 3.000/2.999 If you do not have a bore ga. to measure cyl.put the new rings in the cyl 1/2 way down.and measure end gap. that should be no more than .020,if it's greater, than that then cyl is worn enough to be bored. When boring oversize the cyl is bored EXACTLY .010,.020 or .030 larger than the std. size.Enough to clean and straighten bore.Sometimes.010 isn't big enough, you have to go to .020 or .030. At that point the piston is properly fit to the cyl.
