Hey Nate that looks like a brinly sleeve hitch plow that has some tabs welded on it to attach to the Simplicity mounts. I have two of these and everything looks to be there. I would say it is all in the adjustments. Try going to the brinly site and looking at the plow setup instructions. I would venture to say that the front mount that is bolted to the main beam is tilted way too much. Also if that is a b series you probably need to replace that bar with a chain so the plow can float. I will look for the pdf of the setup I have an post it.

Nate That is a newer Brinly with the split beams, The hitch is tilted a little high there usually in the lower hole on the hitch, But others have drilled a new hole and made the hitch in line with the beam, I'm getting ready to do this What this does is make the sleeve hitch ride higher so the pin doesn't run in the dirt..

I figured it was, I bought it from an auction this way. I already bent my lift rod trying to put it in the ground. it don't cut very good and doesn't leave a very wide furrow. after I messed with it I made it work better but not like it should.

bluecap24: do you have any pictures of your plow that you could share with me. hooked up to your tractor would be the best thanks. Bunky: first pic bolt on the left needs the hitch to be moved down? thanks I have not had time to look at the site yet

nate from the factory the left bolt in the 1st picture would be in the top hole instead of the bottom hole and then others have drilled a hole in between the 2 and then mounted the hitch in line with the beam you can go to www.brinly.com set up instructions

You're not going to be able to force it in the ground with the top link really that should be a chain not a solid hook up.You need to turn the adjuster to put the point of the plow more toward the ground to make it go in then add some weight if not going in enough.

The paint looks good for a show plow but for a work plow to work correctly it needs to come of and the plow share be bare shiny metal.

well I could not what any longer so I went out and tried to get stuck. :D worked like it always had. it was wet, stuck to the shoe. made a mess of the garden, had fun as well, and got the itch out of me, tractor ran good, had to dump water out of the carb 2 times, but running better. wished I changed the rear tires to the cut 6-12. well here is some pictures for your amusement.

I guess I should have just tilled it. really soft, black, wet, but now it should dry better now and when we get the snow and rain this weekend, you know just in time for good Friday potato planting day.

Nate I know you think I don't know anything and maybe I don't. But that plow would pull a lot easier and the soil would not stick to the plow share as much with out the paint on it. here is some shots from last year. if you need more let me know. i posted a link for the brinly plow manual. follow the setup instructions and your plow will work alot better and you will be happier with the performance. trust me i had same troubles but now the plow is working like a champ and makes the tractor earn its keep ;). and the direct lift bar you have is no good. thats why your arm bent. and UCD is right about the paint. but the paint wont stay on long anyway. so follow the instructions in the manual and wait for the right ground conditions. plowing the garden is my favorite thing to do with my simplicitys. i cant wait to drop a plow in the ground either but ya gotta wait for the ground to dry out. Perry pretty well covered the matter with pics, I'll post a couple of plowing 'tall' stuff under just because I love doing it. Both Maynard and Perry are 100 percent on saying the paint and solid bar MUSt go. take a wirewheel on a 4 inch grinder and polish that dude up. Follow Maynards link to set up and will work and provide you with a lot of fun, if you enjoy hearing your tractor working.

ya the paint will go just did it for fun and yep sticks just like you said Maynard. I believed you. I know your to use grease on the mole board. I just had to scoff off some fresh paint first. I didn't want to run it rusty so I cleaned it up with me 4 1/2 Dewalt with a wire cup. it looked bare so I painted it to see what color was in the can. :D MPH: looks like fun when it is set up right I know mine was wrong when I bought it but had no idea what it was and why it was set up this way just that it hooked up and did the job of braking ground and letting me run threw my garden 2 times. I have been trying to barrow a brinley hitch to make a copy from but just have not found anyone yet to let me copy it. thanks so much for all the pictures it has helped me out a lot. I will have plenty of time to play with it after the mods.

Nate, here's a couple pics of my plow. I think mine is an older style then yours, not sure if the early ones were made for Simplicity by Brinley or not. Wasn't boothed up properly to get any closer:)

I made the newer style hitch with help off of guys here. Later I scored an old style off someone and like it better for the plow, don't recall exactly why just that it seems to work better all around with the plow.

Didn't notice how yours was mounted in the first picture til today, yea, you need to make a hitch:D. the plow needs to swing a little.

dose anyone have a picture and measurements of the original top hitch part with the chain? it can't be that hard to make. thanks. also can I still pick up the plow where the metal bar connects with the 1" rod. I was planning on cutting it off about 1 1/2" to 2" from the frame of the plow and putting a clevis on that point to connect the chain to, what do you think?
