franklef Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I have a Simplicity 3212H. At the end of last season, I was loosing power from the hydrostat drive. I had to push the lever almost all the way forward to get any power. I put it in the garage for the Winter. I just went out to get it ready for this year and there is a puddle of fluid under the rear of the tractor. My first question is what kind of fluid do I need to put into the resevoir? Also any ideas as to why it requires the lever to be pushed almost all the way forward to get much power? Thanks, Frank
RayS Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 It uses Dexron fluid. It more than likely is leaking from the pintle shaft.
franklef Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks RAYS If I add fluid would it be good to replace the filter? If so do you know where I can get one? Thanks, Frank
wilm169 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 filters are avaible from simiplicity, they are in the holding tank.
RayS Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 They are around $50.00 for the filter. The part number is 166147. Check all the hoses but the Vickers normally leak from the pintle shaft.
MPH Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 If your gonna put on a new filter, which IMO is a good idea, esp if you never have, drain and change all the fluid, don't just add. My 3314 uses a lot more fluid sitting over the winter then it does mowing all summer, it sits in cold storage, figure the old seals just don't hold well in the cold.
franklef Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 All, Thanks for all the help. I'll try these suggestions. Frank
