sawdust Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 have an 7018 with a k361 shop says they can't fix it for lack of parts , does anyone know of a b&s or kohler , or other motor that switch without major problems ? the rest of the tractor is in great shape . sawdust
Gary Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I've seen conversion kits on e-bay for the 7016 (should be similar to your 7018). A 10 - 16hp Kohler should be a direct swap.
MikeES Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Sawdust, what is wrong with the K361? The only parts that are hard to find is the rocker arms. Everything else is available (essentially the same parts as a K341). The easy switch is any of the K series Kohlers with the large oil pan. Many Kohlers for Cub Cadets and others like Bolens have a different oil pan. But any of the old cast iron B&S will drop right in, but will need a drive coupling and a change in electrical (magneto ignition vs. the Kohler battery ignition).
sawdust Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 the shop tells me that kohler has discoutined all the parts gaskets ect. i know it has a bad head gasket and a knock in the engine
