Cub hydro

Recommended Posts

I realize it is a Cub, but I know some who read are familiar with them. The hydrostatic motor on it is not motoring. All other components work fine and are in spec, so I would assume the motor needs to be rebuilt. Are there any issues I should be aware of with the tear down? What is a good source for parts?

Its a '87? 1220 hydro. Cubs are kinda new to me. Parts tree says the pump rebuild is 99 bucks. Would that have everything I need or would I be better off finding a pump.

Sounds like one of the newer models since the MTD takeover, if it were me, I'd go for the rebuild becuase then you know what you've really got. I wouldn't trust a used hydro on anything that new, could work fine one day and go out the next.

The symptoms supposedly presented in a matter of a couple sessions, fading to no motion force. Seems like pump seals or dump valve, right? I just want to make sure Im chasing the right rabbit.
