http://simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=103587 Ive got some trouble... I think I need to pull this tiller completely apart... I need to get the tiller tines / tube off the tiller Shaft Assy. (#23 pg 82 / 83 AC 300 parts Manual) Is this just a heat and beat or will I wreck something by doing that. I have a 3 prong puller but...????

Try pulling the shear pins in the shafts, connect the tiller, then drop it to the ground, engage the clutch and see if they will spin free. Some time that is all that is needed to break them loose.

The 36" tillers have two keyways that are 1/4" square and about a 1-1/2" long on each tine shaft as well as the pins. I doubt that they will break loose. The 32" tillers have no key ways and they may break loose.

well, my whole project last night was getting the tine tube off the shaft... success ... of course my skeleton needs lube this am too...

the job required some bar stock to serve as a spacer, a big puller, a big hammer, and a propane torch.... oh, and about 2 - 3 hours... :D This is a 36" AC tiller. The shaft does indeed have 2 keyways on each shaft... What was the original color of the shaft and tines.. black? Any advice on proceeding on splitting the cases? Thanks!!

I am gonna try Bob's method tonight....will report back with results. Bob's advice has always been good and he is batting 100%....wish I would have met him before saying "I do".

Nope, they didn't break free. Need to find more rocks or something to jar them loose. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdgTeNjfLr4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYt4QJjl-qs
