Hydro Linkage on late model Landlord

I have a mid-90s 18HP Landlord. The hyrdo linkage seems to have a detent that requires more force than I would like to move from N to forward. I lubed everything and adjusted the friction spring adjustment about as soft as I could. Are they all like this? I want it to be butter smooth like my John Deere. (Sorry for the swear words). :) -Don McLuckie

The only reason we have found for stiff hydro lever movement is corrosion on the stack of belleville washers on the inside end of the shift lever. Perhaps this is what you say you loosened. Spray them with a penetrating oil & tighten the nut up completely. Using it when loosened will allow wear on the squared shank/arm. If the lever is rubbing too hard on the side of the guide bracket try bending the arm away slightly and/or lubing it at the slide area. Bill

Bill, Thanks for the reply. I will re-tighten the spring-loaded stack. I think I fixed the problem when I removed grass buildup by the trans linkage. -Don McLuckie

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
