Deck question

Here's one I've been wondering about... since the blades overlap, and all turn the same way, how come they never hit each other? Meaning why doesn't the leading edge of one blade ever hit the trailing edge of another? *scratches head*

The circular cuts of the blades overlap, but the blades do not swing through the same space and cannot hit each other. This is because the center blade sits forward of the other two enough to allow the overlap of cut. The center blade is farther forward on a 48 inch deck than it is on a 42 inch deck to prevent the longer blades from hitting each other. This is why a 48 inch deck will not fit a short wheelbase foot dragger.
