Do PTO Clutch Cones go bad?

Recommended Posts

SmilinSam
Hi Les ! The linings on the inside of the hub usaully wear out first, but I have had the cones wear also to where they would not engage right with a good hub. Usually I have that with cones that have bad bearings where they wobble enough so they don't seat in the hub right. Sam

I started mowing with the 7116, went about 3 feet and the blades quit turning, no PTO, the clutch was not engaging. Since I had an extra cone off of the 712S, I put it on, mowed the lawn just fine. Do the clutch cones wear out?

I have the same problem with a 7116, blades will not turn with any resistance(ie longer grass). The problem just kept getting worse until now they will not turn at all. What parts do I need?? Thanks Bill
