4041 fuel pump

Well, with your help I figured out that the tractor is getting no fuel, problem seems to be the pump. So I bought the rebuild kit, and removed the pump. However, not having any detailed instructions for the rebuild, I was cowed pretty fast. I couldn't figure it out beyond splitting the pump apart, so I stopped. Can anyone offer some step by step assistance, or point me to some printed material? Thanks in advance, again.

Onan fuel pumps are one of the weakest links on these tractors. I've replaced my 4041 pump with a Purolator electric pump. I soon will replace them on my two 9020's also. Powermax Paul

Jed, I am a school teacher, not a mechanic, but I rebuilt mine with only the instructions in the rebuild kit. The only thing I remember is that you must use the correct spring when you rebuild. One is for diesel application, the other for gasoline. If you just disassemble and reassemble you should be okay. Be careful with the new diaphragm, and I think you'll soon be going again. As I mentioned in response to your first post, mine has been good for about three years now. Previous owner mentioned (after I had bought the machine) that he'd had to rebuild it about every year. I either got lucky or did the job right! Good luck! Dave
