Belt will not disenage enough to stop spinning the trans. Makes shifting gears a grinding task. Belt has plenty of free play when clutch is in. I am at a loss. HELP

Hi, Check the belt guides. These are the fingers that are next to the belt by the engine pulley. They should be on the OUTSIDE of the belt and just not touching when the belt is tight. This is the most common problem that causes grinding gears. If you have a manual it will tell you how to adjust the guides, and also where they are and how many you should have. Steve

We had the same problem on our B-212. Check the clutch itself and see if it wiggles back and fourth while pressed and/or released. If it does, this means the shaft has worn and requires a bushing. Our belt had free play aswell, the shaft was just worn.
