Starter / Generator for 3415 help

Now that the 3415 is running fairly well, I'm starting to iron out the bugs. One is it not charging. The motor starts fine off the battery when it's charged so the starting part is OK, but while it's running the "Gen" light comes on. I checked the voltage at the terminals with a voltmeter and it was 12.5, but should be more like 14. The tractor sat in a barn for about 10 years before I got it, so I'm wondering if there could just be some corrosion, rust, or whatever preventing it from charging. Also, I did "full-field" the generator already by grounding the F terminal for a few seconds while the engine is running. Can anyone tell me what / how to check it and what to look for?

Great, thanks for the links / suggestions everyone. Without this site my 3415 would still be be split in half and the parts in the 3 buckets like I bought it!
