Wisconsin Engine Question----

Recommended Posts

LesH
I have a 2 cylinder Wisconsin Model TJD that I am trying to get going. It has a magneto. I cleaned out the carb/ blew out the carb/ gas tank/ added new fuel filter / new fuel lines/ new plugs/ new plug wires/ gapped points.... no oil burning/ no bad noises... It starts fine but does not rev up and seems to stumble under higher rpm, adjusting the main jet does not do anything...then after about 5 minutes it quits.. Any suggestions??? Thanks!!!

I sent your question to my pal who lives and breathes wisconisin engines. This is his response: Run it and when it starts to die, squirt carb cleaner into the intake;that will tell you whether the problem is fuel or spark.

Some Wisconsin engunes had a design speed of only 1800 RPM FL and the venturis in the carb were also designed designed around that RPM. Speeding up the engine would cause a severe resriction in air flow thru the carb and opening the high speed jet wouldn't correct that.
