Engine goes backward

Recommended Posts

I just noticed that the briggs in my landlord 2010 gets pushes backward after it's turned off. Something like dieseling but not quite. Basically, I turn off the engine. The engine winds down. Then when it's just about stopped the engine runs backward. I'm guessing it's because of the compression stroke of the engine without enough momentum to run forward. So instead, the compressed air causes the piston to be pushed back down the cylinder. Thus, reversing the direction of the gears in the BGB. It seems the tractor may have always done this and I just noticed. Never the less, this sort of behavior could do damage somehow. Right? Jason
