Is your tractor a shuttle or a hydro? Here are the parts manuals for each. The mower deck part numbers are in the last link. Unless someone here has a pdf. file of a repair manual you will need to buy one from a dealer or Simplicity. what number are you using? http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8.vK0rE7CNj5kbp796Dq http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8.wJ1rE7CNj5kbp796Dq http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=jgEDGP_byN1tG_Exj7mRgtLvBCd6

i'm using 7114 to search for the manual (like i said, this is all new to me). i'm not sure if it's a shuttle or hydro (not sure what that means). i did open it up yesterday and looked around a little, but having trouble deciphering everything under there. i'm getting very interested in figuring out how it all works, luckily i mowed the yard and garden before it stopped working. someone mentioned it could be the circuit breaker, could i have tripped something? i was mowing very high grass when it stopped.

Does your tractor have a gearshift between the seat and steering tower? If so it is a shuttle, if not it is a hyrdo. For the 7114 shuttle use mfg. i.d. 1690474 For the 7114 hydro, us mfg. i.d. 1690723

yes! gearshift, so it's a shuttle! does anyone have other suggestions as to why it won't start? i turn the key and nothing. it did this before but i just let it sit for a little while and it started right up. not this time.

Make sure your mower is out of gear, and you have the clutch pedal pushed in. If not, the safety interlocks will not let the starter turn. If you hear a clicking noise, then your battery is low and needs charging.

Yes, deck is welded on (any suggestions on how to fix THAT? it pretty much shaves the grass as short as possible!), i was a little confused by that as well, but heck, i only paid $400 for it. it says 7114 on the side, so unless there's another number hidden somewhere, i'm pretty sure that's it. going to take another shot at it tomorrow night with a friend's help. very frustrating weekend watching the grass grow, but did get alot of manual gardening chores done.

On that shuttle, make sure you are either full fwd or full rev most of the time. They aren't designed to be half-engaged for very long.
