Fly wheel removal?

Recommended Posts

joshuaareed
Does anyone have any secrets for removal of the flywheel on a 13 hp briggs. I have PB blaster soaking now, but have tried a flywheel puller with an impact gun and she moved a little but did not come all the way off yet. It is on there really good. Any and all tricks up your sleeves would be appreciated. Thanks Josh

Tighten the flywheel puller as tight as you can get it and hit the end of the bolt with a good heavy blow with a hammer. The flywheel should pop right off.

Hi, Flywheel should be on a tapered shaft, if it moved a little it should immediately come loose. Are you sure it moved? Maynard is right, tighten the puller and then a good whack with a decent steel hammer on the puller shaft should do it. Steve
