K341 overheating

I have a newly rebuilt 16 hp kohler that will run fine for about 20 minutes and then overheats. The only thing that I can think is the timing could be off. How do you check the timing, what else should I look for?

The only way to check your timing is to check your points when open for 20 thousandths. Also might want to check your head gasket, that would make it overheat too. Good luck

I assume the engine's sheetmetal is in place and the intake screen is clear? Do you feel good airflow coming out the top of the engine when it's running?
