Yes, you must disassemble the whole transmission. The tube axle cost about $130. The job can be done by most backyard mechanics, no special tools needed. Works best if you remove the tranaxle from the tactor and lay it on its left side and remove the right side cover. Good Luck! Mike S.

This is for a friend who is the original owner. His right axle tube broke, seems to be a common problem. How big of job is this and do we have to dissasemble the whole transmission?
