A few pics... made some progress today. Refinished dash tower ready to go on: (Can I find those clips that slide over the holes to receive the sheetmetal screws from underneath at a hardware store or do I have to go to a Simplicity dealer? The plan is to get the paint done before winter, then I will spend the winter redoing the electrical, installing a gas tank, etc. And, of course, finding an engine. This tractor was supposed to be for parts but I couldn't bear the thought of not restoring the old girl. I am considering installing either a Kohler K341 (which would be a match for my other 716H - this one started life as a Simplicity 7016H with a Briggs), or repowering with a Briggs Vanguard. I am looking for a long-term reliable machine. Probably won't be my daily driver since I have Allis I for that. But I want to get this one done so I can tear down the trans and replace the axle tube and seal on Allis I.. but I need another machine up and running first.
