I have done several older to newer tractor engine swaps. Usually it is a shot single cylinder kohler being replace by a Briggs single. In such the bolt holes are all the same. I'm asuming the frames with the twins have hole that work as well. Anyhow, use the cables that are on the 7100 and hope they are long enough because the ones on the older one will not be. Use the driveshaft and couplers off the 7100, should not be a problem. You will have to rewire the tractor for the starter/generator setup if thats whats on the Briggs. Any more questions just ask. The 7100 series wheelbase is longer than previous models. I believe the distance from the BGB forward was increased approximately 2".

Neighbor guy has two SOVERIGNS (1) B&S 16 h.p BAD bevel box, electric lift, old style VICKERS? transmission. (2) Model 7117, Two cylinder motor with a hole thru the block, electric lift, good bevel gear box, good New style transmission. The question: Can he take the B&S 16 hp one cylinder motor and install in new SOVERIGN?? I measured the mounting bolt holes and they are 6 1/2 inches and I guess the CHOLE & THROTTLE cables would need to be swapped from the 16 hp donor also. Any other items??? Will the driveshafts need swapped??? Are they differernt lenghts??

Dutch, not familiar with 7100 or for that matter any other than the B series. When I was redoing my B112, the bevel gear box was wiped out, no biggie, got a B10 for parts, Longer wheel base of the 112 is gained in the plates that mount tranny to bgb and the shaft was longer for var. sp set-up. what year are 7100's??????MPH

I believe the 7100/AC-900 series started in 1979.
