Electric PTO Clutch------------

Has anyone ever tried to take apart an electric PTO clutch?? Mine quit working and I removed it easily. It smells like burnt wiring. The leads are good and not bare. Looks like the clutch assembly is pressed together when manufactured. Checked the price on an aftermarket clutch and they are $195!!! The coil must be shorting to ground. I am going to try to take it apart and rewind it. I need to get the correct gage of magnet wire, some epoxy and shrink tubing...Any opinions or ideas?? Thanks.
