No model plate

Hi folks. By looking at the info provided on Simple Tractors, I think this may be a '73 Landlord. Can anyone help put a model to it? To help matters, I can't locate the B&S model number.... Tractor is definitely mis-matched. The steering wheel is one typical of the 3300/3400 series, while those tractors did not have an ammeter but rather a small "gen" light. I also notice that the running boards were installed incorrectly on the outside of the frame, rather than inside. The hood is definitely from between 3300 series up to SYSTEM 7000 series. The engine is a 10hp, you can tell by the cylinder head. The engine numbers could be on the same side as the generator, near the white "oil level" decal.

Thanks Chris. I thought the coloring of the Simplicity decal on the hood was of a newer vintage, but the hood has no headlights. Were they optional? I will most likely strip this thing down for parts.... Rick

That type of hood had the headlights that bolted to the sides of the grille. There were two small lights in each headlight pod, for which the bulbs are no longer available. You can see the mounting knockouts on the sides of your grille for installing headlights. The tractor looks like it was most likely an older 7010, since the first 7000s still had the outside headlight pods, and I don't think they came installed on the 7010s from the factory.

I agree, someone put newer-style decals on a 7000-series hood. Don't get me wrong, that is my favorite style of tractor. If you restore it, just get the running boards installed right and it'll look just fine. Nice machine. If it was me I'd restore it back to the late 7000's style with the correct decals, but up to you. Either way, good catch.

Most of my tractors were built from parts anyway. I just set them up to be like a tractor that I would want. The two tractors of this series that I have are set up as ACs. One started it's life as an AC716H and that is what I have kept it as. The other has parts from an AC 710, Homelite T13, AC 716, Cub Cadet, and a couple others. I have set it up and call it an AC 713S. The closest one built by AC was a 712S, but mine has the 13 Hp engine from a Homelite. Just set the tractor up the way that makes you happy. That is what counts. The rest of us don't matter when you climb into that seat.:D

I'd say the hood is a repaint.

The ACs had an orange hood, but most times they had a different grille than the Simplicities. I know the later models with the lights in the grille are that way. I don't think the ACs had any bars in the grille, even on the early ones.
