Noticed the air intake shroud on tractor below. What other models have the shroud? http://shop.ebay.com/hillbilly-deluxe/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

I always thought those were a guard for the driveshaft. I never thought of them as in intake shroud. Interesting, I can see how that could be their use.

It helps keep the hot air from the front and the muffler from being sucked back into the engine. The idea is to get cooler air to come in from below the tractor. I have one on my 61 Wards, but that one is a driveshaft shield that was required for tractor pulling.

I only recall seeing these on late model tractors with Kohler engines. But my memory is getting a little............... What were we talking about????

I've got one on my '84 916H. Critical in regards to preventing engine overheating but make sure you put it in BEFORE the motor. I didn't & just about had to bend it in half to get it back in, but alas, I was able to minus some skin on my knucklessm05

If this is really for air circulation, then shouldn't the 3400 and 7000 series have also had them? I've noticed the engine gets hot on my 3410, for some reason the 710, 7010 Kohler machines seemed to run cooler, I have removed the engine and there are no blockages or dirty fins.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
