Question for the stack muffler dudes!

I want to put a stack muffler on my 64 landlord, it is all original, want something that will still be quiet but a nice look. I know, I know, support it on a head bolt...:D:D:D Any advice, part numbers, places to shop?

Burntime another thing besides the head bolt. If you life in arctic like winter conditions the carburetor can ice up also. The muffler heated the bowl area enough to prevent freezing the linkages and such so add at the elbow a heat collector to pass warm air over the carb. or another solution is to use an aftermarket muffler that is modified.

Stacks look cool but nothing sounds as good as the OEM can muffler. The mufflers for Cub Cadets are small and have a tab for attaching a bracket for support. Also the mufflers made for Cub Farmall tractors from TSC are a little taller and look good. But the single cyl. engines don't flow enough exhaust to get the tone control and are slightly louder than normally desired.

I think that the stack mufflers look great...my worry is that the stack muffler is in the way when trying to mow near trees with lower branches.

I had a stack muffler, although it looked cool, it was quite loud and was at the same exact height as my ear. so I removed it and I am much happier, in that I can actually hear what my wife is saying, I just choose to tune her out.

Witch way is the flow on DARK muffler? is it quieter than the can? Take the stack muffler & put a curved end on it & point it towards the front to help with the noise level. Like some semies you see have like 90 elbow at the top that's cut off, one side chrome & the other side is hole.

It's a omniflow so there really isn't a flow variance I've used them in both directions depending on hood clearance needed. A chrome pipe extension can be used to make the stack pretty quiet setup I can talk across a room without yelling at half throttle. I got a Gravely muffler like Dark is talking about, and put the slotted round side toward the engine with a small muffler clamp and the other end (long side) up by the side of the tractor ( about 3 or 4 inches from the hood) with a 4" long chrome pipe that fits over the end. Its not the sound of and original muffler that my wife has on her tractor (both B110's). she loves hers and I love mine, but if the wind is just right mowing you can smell exhaust, But if your just going to put-put around with it I think its ok ( I blow snow with it so I made a home made carb heater and was blowing snow last Thursday at Five degrees with no prob,, Good luck..

I love the stacks my self and I have been experimenting with all kinds of different diameter stainless steel pipe and actual farm tractor mufflers that I have altered the baffles in for a great tone. Nice! I could not hear in the video, which muffler on the landlord is quiet...a stanley numbered? I played it 3 times and not sure if its my computer speakers or what but I can not make it out... I looked at a stanley at Farm & Fleet and will try TSC next...

The quietest is the Stanley F-01, you;ll have to mount it up side down, but works great and sounds great with out being overly obnoxious.

Have you ever tried using a Stanley OL-5? It looks like it might be easier to mount up, but I'm only going from their web site. Doug
