FOR THE PAST MONTH I WENT THROUGH A BIG ORDEAL WITH BUYING A DEPARTMENT STORE TYPE MOWER. I PICKED UP ONE OF THESE TROY BUILTS 23HR TWIN KOHLER AND A 50" DECK. WELL I FOUND OUT QUICKY THAT IT WAS JUNK! IT COULDN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO MY OLD RUSTY 716H. SO I TOOK IT BACK GOT A REFUND AND I PICKED UP A PARTS TRACTOR FOR THE 716H. GOOD DECK BUT NO MOTOR AND THE BEVEL GEAR BOX LOST THE INPUT BEARING. GOT THE THING FOR 150.00 THIS LEADS ME TO TWO QUESTIONS. 1. WHATS THE BEST WAY TO RE-WORK THE DECK? SAND BLAST AND USE A GOOD PRIMER AND THEN PAINT? 2. WHERE CAN I GET A DECAL PACKAGE FOR THE 716H AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO SPEND? DON'T EVER GIVE UP ON THESE OLD TRACTORS, THE NEW ONES ARE TWICE THE PRICE AND THEIR JUNK!!!!!!

luchy you didn't get rid of your real tractor on the way. I looked at a Troy last week in Anch, wouldn't trade my 725 off for 2 of them and can't even mow the grass, yet MPH

Last year I needed a nother tractor to mow our yard here, didn't have anything so I built a 712 6 speed out of spare parts. Its got a engine out of a B-212, tranny from a 910-6 and a old landlord (dont ask!) gearbox from a 912H, and parts from at least 5 others. Being the Frankenstein concoction it is, it still mows circles around the dime store tractors! Never had a problem with it either. I'm still Smilin ! Sam
