42" Snowthrower Belt Stretch

Recommended Posts

BMinor8806
I have a 42" snowthrower attached to my Allis-Chalmers 912H with a front pto engine out of a 416H. The belt seems to stretch a lot on this machine however it does blow snow well. Any ideas on how to reduce or eliminate the belt strecth? I need to use a custom belt size 5/8" X 73" because of the larger pulley on electric clutch. Brandon

I've run a 36" snowthrower off the front electric clutch on my A/C built Homelite T-12. Also ran a 42" snowthrower off a front electric clutch on my GTHL. Both used "HA" cross section belts. Here's a pic of the clutch on the Homelite:

I would think the clutch pictured is the same as yours. Based on the info in the belt reference page: http://www.simpletractors.com/parts/belts/belts_pg18.htm You can get a 73.1" HA cross section Simplicity belt, part #1651201. The HA cross section will ride lower in the pulleys, so you may need a smaller size. The Simplicity belts do seem to last longer than other belts.
