Legacy Question

Hi, I have the opportunity to purchase a Legacy. I am told it is 5 years old. The engine is reportedly a 23 horse; is that correct? I was expecting a 25 horse. The tractor is 2 wheel drive with a 54 or 60 inch deck (buried in the snow), a 46 inch single stage blower, and a three bag grass collection system. Should I hold out for a two stage blower. Note I have used a 42 inch single stage for many years and know how well they work. The tractor has about 850 hours on it. How many more hours can I expect? The previous owner used it to cut his grass and snow blow his parking lot. If I do this, the Legacy would become my primary grass cutter and snow removal machine. My current primary snow blower (a sovereign) would become my back up. Andy advice or what I should look out for. Maynard, given your records if this Legacy has a 23 horse when were those made (year range). If it has a 25 horse, when were those made. thanks Rick.........

I think there were several engine options available for the Legacy. Kohler, Kawasaki both air and water cooled, Diesel. As well as different HP ratings. Expected life would depend on what engine it is.

I bought a '98 Legacy, 25 horse, last summer with 1200 hours on it. It's not pretty, but it runs that 60" deck just fine and is not an oil burner. Nice machines! Dave
