3314 Vickers Rebuild

Anyone help me out with my Vickers? After 38 years of tough love my vickers is tired. My forward and reverse are slower and in cold weather she is much slower. Also when I park on a hill she rolls after a few minutes of sitting. I need opinions. Do I rebuild or just get a rebuilt unit? Considering both options where do I get a master rebuild kit and or a complete unit? Part numbers anyone? Would love to hear from those who have done either and their recomendations. Im preparing for a my restoration which is why I ask.

You should check the linkage for wear which may cause the shift lever on the hydro unit to not move far enough to reverse and forward. There are good linkage fixes described on this site by people who had hydro problems. I would check the linkage for wear before rebuilding or replacing the hydro.

I rebuilt mine and it works great now. I did some reaserch and found all of the manuals the Eaton has on the units. If you are a DIYer you can do it. But if you are uncomfortable doing precision and clean assembly, then you might be better off having it done for you. I was wondering if your unit leaks at all. Also, have you done anything to it lately? Most common external problems are the linkage, slipping belt, and leakage. Internally, there are lots of things that can get worn and refuse to seal... Not just in the pumps and motor, but in the relief and check valves, too. If you need the diagrams, send me an e-mail.
