Charging a Maintenance Free Battery...............

Recommended Posts

LesH
I have a maintenance free battery I am going to charge using a 1 amp charger. Are there any special precautions I should be using other than-- charge in a ventilated area/ wear a face shield when handling the battery?? Battery is not frozen. Thanks.

Its good that most maintenence free batteries have covers so water can be addded if needed, to get the most life out of the battery. Assuming it's not treated like a deep cycle!

Make sure your charger has a float capability. Even a 1 amp minimum charger can cook out a battery. A float charger keeps the voltage at a peek without any noticeable current.
