I am just about to install a new base gasket on my cast iron Briggs 10Hp and am not sure if a I need to put any gasket glue on ther or simply put the gasket on and tighten it up also anybody know the torque value offhand for that application?

I have used brush-on aviation permatex with pretty good luck. Most of mine leak when I don't use it. I don't remember the torque right now.

I use only permatex silcon (no gasket) if it was nice and clean Tighen the bolts and let it sit for a day.I have never had a leak on any of my engines.
