seat cover for 416 ?

Any suggestions on how to restore my 416 seat? The metal pan is there in pretty good condition but I understand the PO's dog liked to chew the plastic molded seat cover & padding. Has anyone found just the cover portion ??? or is this really just a "find a new one" thing? if so, are there any seats that would bolt up nicely? any suggestions would be quite appreciated.

I do search the forum regularly..... It doesn't work very well for me. but I will certainly try your suggestion. I have searched using the terms "416 seat" "400 seat" "300 seat" using the "and" search for the last 3 years... Im not having much luck

You won't find a "new replacement" cover. I think the seat was only sold as an assembly and it has a rather unusual design. The best way to get something that looks original, is to take the seat to an upholstery shop and see what they can do. If you can find someone who does upholstery on the side, you'll get a much better price.

Just go to Northern Tool or TSC and buy a seat. Is the tractor such an absolutely perfect original that the seat must be identical to the factory unit?

not a bad idea... it seems that almost any way I go the seat will be more than i paid for the tractor!! Ive gotta be more picky in the future as to what i drag home... but you're right Rod... I've gotta keep some perspective here. :D

Has anyone checked out this seat at Tractor Supply? http://www.tractorsupply.com/agriculture-farming-ranching/tractor-tune-up-repair/tractor-seats/tractor-replacement-seat-0278221 I am going to go look at them tomorrow and buy one for Sad Sack if it is decent. I think the pan may be plastic of some sort. UPDATE I bought one of the Tractor Supply pan seats. Here are some pictures of it.

It is a metal pan with two 7/16 studs on the bottom for mounting. These would not work with our tractors, but read on.

Here is the good news.

The studs are welded to a plate which is welded to the seat pan with 4 small welds that can easily be removed. You can then drill holes where needed in the pan and use carriage bolts to attach the seat to the seat pan. Overall this is a very nice seat for the price. The cover looks to be durable and the pan is substantial. It gets two thumbs up from me. John U

I think the pan is metal, but instead of attaching by a single bolt hole in the center (as most pan seats did) it has two studs, about 1-1/2 or 2" long that stick out underneath. This seat is not "bolt-in" replacement for any simplicity seat.

i was at tsc and felt one of these up yesterday. they feel like a nice heavy seat.. and I thought its price was great at $30-40... and seemed like a great replacement for seats of that style...

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
