B110 equivalent in Simplicity

A relative just purchased a late-1960's AC B110 serial #080634 and is looking for information on parts availability. I've read that the AC B110 was built by Simplicity and is either a Landlord 2110 or 2210. I've downloaded the Simplicity Operators & Parts Manual and the most likely Simplicity models seem to be the 990432, or 990496. His tractor has a PTO, but no power lift or hydraulic lift. In the parts manual the 990496 and 990497 have a section for the "Clutch and Brake Group", but nothing is shown for the 990432 and 990433. So, how can I confirm the Simplicity model that matches a 1968(? that's the year of the 10-hp Briggs engine) AC B110? The problem symptom is a "chattering" sound when the clutch is engaged. The sound seems to be coming from the drive clutch.

Records of year built are in the clutches of someone that died I think}:) If the engine is original and you can supply the S/N, we can come up with a reasonable build date of the tractor .

Thanks for the replies. What I really want to confirm is whether an AC B110 with serial# 080634, PTO, no power lift, no hydraulic lift, is a Simplicity 990496. The X-ref chart here shows 5 AC B110's built in 1967-1968, and 5 corresponding Simplicity models, but no way to tell them apart. That chart implies that both Simplicity 2110 and 2210s could be a B110, and it seems that attachments did cause the model number to change. The Simplicity parts manual doesn't show a listing for a PTO on the 990432 and 990433, and the 990497 shows a power lift group, so I think the correct model is 990496, but I'm not sure. The 5'th B110 is a Simplicity 990470, but that model doesn't seem likely. Just to add to my confusion, the cover of the Simplicity manual defines a 990496 as a Landlord 2110, not a 2210 as shown in other manuals. I'm hoping that's just a typo.

What I see is only one that will match your 67-68 model with manual lift [ML] or power lift [PL]. What I see is yours is a 2029927mfg# and the matching simplicity id a 990496 mfg#:D

Why not use the B-110 parts manual? I have an electronic copy I can send you. You'll need to send me your email addie, I can't send it via a PM (private message) since the file is over 2 meg. Compare the B-110 parts diagrams to the various Simplicity tractors. I have a B-110, early model with push button start, serial #06400, mfg#2029902. It crosses to a Simplicity 2110, mfg #990432. In the B-110 parts manual there is a difference starting with serial number 80001; I bet yours is NOT a push button start. I also have a "Word" file format of the A/C Simplicity parts cross reference if you're interested.

Just a hint on your chattering clutch, the drive pulley is 3 pieces and there should be 2 nylon shims between the parts. I was able to get them a couple of years ago.....

Now I'm not sure what I have since there is conflicting information...The main page of the simpletrctors site tells me that the 3112H that I have was made in 1969 and the 3012 was 1968, but the X-REF table tells me that they were both made in 1967, 1968. ? Below is copied from the table. 990434 3012B 1967, 1968 2029900 B-112 12 HP, ES, ML 990499 3112H 1967, 1968 2029931 HB-112 12 HP, Hydro, ML

ReedS "Just a hint on your chattering clutch, the drive pulley is 3 pieces and there should be 2 nylon shims between the parts. I was able to get them a couple of years ago....." Can you give me a reference to a Simplicity parts diagram so I can identify the nylon shims part number? I don't have an AC B110 parts manual. although another poster here might have one to share with me. Is the "drive pulley" you're describing the "Engine Pulley" in the Engine and Drive Shaft section? There are a couple "spacers", part #157081, used there. The Simplicity parts manual I'm using is here: http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCFEN8arG7rE4CG.5kbp796Dq

Welcome to the club. It is part number 2157033SM. It is $3.05 at the link below. It is part AW in the manual below on page 20. http://www.jackssmallengines.com/index.html http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8auGYrE3CG.5kbp796Dq

RayS Thanks for the help. Item "AW" in that diagram is a thrust washer part# 157032 which has been updated to 2860172SM. The 2157033SM is a bearing, item AX. At least I think that's right. The second thrust washer (item AY) is listed as part # 157150. I've also seen this listed as 2157150. Would you normally replace both thrust washers? I haven't been able to locate a source for the 157050 (2157150?). It seems that Simplicity added a leading "2" to their part numbers, and superseded many of them, somewhere along the line. Thanks again. I'm beginning to think that many of the folks on this site must love to read mystery novels, and uncover the killer well before the hero detective does.

You probably only need the nylon washer and the stip bearing. The other thrust washer (157150) is metal, and they rarely fail, thats probably why its no longer available.

Briggs & Stratton added the prefix 2 and in some cases a suffix SM to all Simplicity part#'s about 6 months after acquiring Simplicity Manufacturing.
