how does one measure the tank depth for one of these new replacement gas caps w/ gauge? is this from the bottom of the tank to the top of the tank or the top of the filler neck (cap threads)?

The depth of the tank top to bottom. The 1½ gallon tank takes the short guage. The 3½ gallon takes the long guage. I paid $13 plus tax for the short one and I believe $14 plus tax for the long one last summer from my local dealer.

The 400 series cap is NLA, I suspect its longer than the 300 series cap. The 300 series cap is part# 1602724SM and sells for $20.48 at Jacks.

thanks for the help!! the bummer here is I could use two 300 series caps and one 400 cap... and from what I read here the new ones dont last all that long either... maybe they wont all get a new one with a gauge. $60 on gas caps hurts... OO but hey, i you wanna play, you gotta pay thanks again
