Can you ?

I know you can add hydro lift to the Sundstrand transmission. Can you delete it by capping off ports? Case in point is a Cub Cadet hydro. Are they the same as Simplicity? If you can does anyone have proper caps to cap off ports ?

You also need to make changes to the relief valves if you do this. With a lift, the charge pump has a 750 psi relief valve and pumps through the lift valve to supply the hydrostatic transmission where there is a 150 psi relief valve to dump the excess charge pump oil any time the lift is not being used. When there is no lift, only a 150 psi relief valve at the charge pump is used. There are some others here that can give the exact details. Tom

Is the pump on the Cub Cadet just like the one on a Simplicity? If so, then you need to remove the entire check valve assembly from the side of the unit and replace the cap. Then take the spring from the parts that you just removed and swap it with the spring in check valve that goes into the top of the pump. Once you have done this, then you can just plug the two ports. In the picture below, you will be going from the bottom picture (with hydrolift) to the top picture (without hydrolift). In other words reverse the procedure shown in the pictures.

Ron, the only parts you need are the two plugs to cap off the holes for the hydraulic lines. You can get the caps at any hydraulic shop. Right now, I don't remember the size and type that you need to ask for. On the pump you just remove the check valve on the side and put those parts in the one on the top. Then put the cap back over the hole. The result is no check valve in the side hole, and the lighter of the two springs being used with the check valve assembly in the top hole.
