Checking RPM on a diesel??

If you can get your hands on a hand tach and have the tach tip read crankshaft speed off the shaft side, that's about it. Don't know if Vibra - Tach would do and if it did, they are not real accurate..

Mark - I picked up one of the Harbor Freight tachs a couple of weeks ago. It was listed on the front page of catalog 313-B-Winter 2010 at $29.99. They price matched the catalog price in the store, plus I had a 20% off coupon to use. Got it for $23.99. I did a few quick tests with it, and it seems to work great. Glen

Thanks. I ran across that when I was searching. I ended up ordering the strobe tach from Harbor Freight (cheaper). I can use that for a number of things, and once I get the high and low idle speeds set, I don't need to know what rpm the engine is running at.
