Bailey 0 Posted February 24, 2010 Rebuilding neglected 3410s I picked up on the cheap. Main sheave bearing was reduced to a steal sliver, shoulder bushing inside planetary broke in half, worn pinion in planetary and two blown needle bearings, big thrust bearing between planetary and main sheave worn to almost nothing...... replaced all the above with new. Got seriously lucky to find the thrust bearing in a local shop as it is no longer available. Put everything back together and it chirps in reverse ...... The yahoo PO ran it with the blown needle bearing in the main sheave allowing the main and the half to rub together, warping and wearing the half all wacky. Guess what ... half sheave NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I love this hobby .....
RayS 79 Posted February 25, 2010 Keep an eye on ebay. The whole assembly shows up there once or twice a month.
country 0 Posted February 26, 2010 I have idea what these look like, but can the shaft be reproduced?
Bailey 0 Posted February 26, 2010 Shaft seems fine, it's the half sheave (pulley) that buggered up. Found a whole assembly on ebay.... hopefully it's in decent shape when it arrives......
