Brent_Baumer 5 Posted May 20, 2001 After adjusting the spring to just about every combination of holes in the governor arm bracket and the speed control stop and getting nowhere, I decided to re-look at the manual and start a square one. It is amazing the difference in engine speed control and power I now have after turning the governor cross shaft all the way counterclockwise after loosening the governor arm nut and retightening with the arm at full throttle. I missed that step the first time around. Runs better than ever now. I always wondered my '74, 16HP Briggs had alot more power than my '87, 16HP Kohler did. Now I know. It doesn't anymore. Yee-Haw!
