I'm getting this thing figured out

Picked up a 5216H that appeard in good shape. Some DIY non-OEM parts in places but nothing major. Started to go through it and lubricate and adjust things properly and it's coming around nicely. Hydro is strong and deck is solid. Cuts good and came with 2 sets of Gator blades. Mike helped me with some questions. Biggest stumper was forward speed was about the same as reverse. Fiddled with the linkage and finally remembered a screw with lock nut in the fore position of the hydro lever bracket. A check of the linkage diagrams showed it to be just that - probably to limit speeds. The kicker - it said, (only on 12.5 hp models). I'm sure it was there to limit top speed while turning blades and that it was on there in error from the factory. Now my forward speed is faster than reverse! I plan to get a blower for it for winter.
