Mulching blade options?

Hey folks! I just recently purchased a fairly nice, running '68 B110. I was thoroughly surprised by how much nicer of a job it did than the junk late 80s craftsman I had been using. (needless to say, the craftsman is now gone!) In any event, I sadly spanked the upper bearing on the center blade arbor, so I've got it all dismantled while Im waiting for the parts. I figure, while Im rebuilding the deck, Id like to try out a set of those "gator" mulching blades. The local hardware store was no help at all, and Im having a bit of trouble finding the right ones online... Does anyone have any idea which blades will work out for me? I have a 42" deck serial #2029958. Thanks! -Pat

Welcome to the club! You need gator blade number 96641. http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Gatsim.cfm http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=OEP%2096641&utm_source=base&utm_medium=cse http://www.oregonchain.ca/OEP/pdfs/2009_OregonBlades.pdf

Thanks for your help! I really hate to question you, (You guys know alot more than I would) but the blades on my deck are just a smidge over 14 3/8" long, and those 96641 blades are 16 11/16" long. (Also says their for a 48" deck, mines only a 42") I measured, and it looks like I only have about 1/2 an inch clearance on either side of the blade, with the deck. Any ideas? That one link you gave me actually led me to this one "http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=OEP+96642&catID=9464" which I think will do the trick. Other than being half an inch wider, everything else is pretty close, so I think we're in business! thanks again! -Pat

I think the gators might have the smaller center hole, not a problem though because you can grind the weld flat on the arbor flange.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
