perry 1 Posted May 31, 2010 this year I've been mowing my lawn with a couple of off brand tractors i picked up. i just didn't have the time to suit up a simplicity/Allis yet this year. while mowing with one of the off brand tractors it was ripping large divits out of my lawn :O. we'll i couldn't take it anymore and pulled the big ten out of the shed. it needed about a days work to get it back together. but boy did it feel good to mow the grass with it 8D. it has a updated 16hp Briggs on it and you can hardly even hear the deck when its engaged. i still have to add the hydro lift and HI-LO unit to it in the near future. just ran out of time. i should of known better than to try and cheat one of my GOOD tractors out of mowing grass this year ;). perry 1 Posted June 1, 2010 besides the 16hp, there is something else in the second pic that should stand out as not original. can ya guess ?. here is the divot maker . it really is a nice old roper tractor with a 16hp briggs. just don't have the cut quality as a simplicity. actually all 3 of these tractors in the pics i attempted to mow grass with this year. the roper ripped divots, the wards was not too bad, but has no brakes and the blades are shot, and the wheel horse just cut like crap. MPH 12 Posted June 1, 2010 One does get spoiled on the cut of these Simplicity's. I tried cutting with a 75 gilson because it was a good running 16hp Briggs and hydrostatic drive. Hated the cut and went back to cutting with the B-112 gear drive.
JimH 1 Posted June 1, 2010 Perry, that Big 10 is gona be special when you get the hydro-lift and hi/lo installed. Nothing like these old machines.
SmilinSam 3,621 Posted June 1, 2010 WoW! A nice looking Roper/Sears with an unbroken hood !!! Never seen one with a hood that wasnt busted in at least 3 places. Never did like the decks on them though. Nice plus is its got the Briggs instead of the tecumseh.
