3108 stalls after 15 minutes - no fuel

Hi all, I picked up a Simplicity 3108 last week that had been sitting for a year or so. After cleaning out the mouse nests, etc I got it started and eventually running smoothly...for 15 minutes at a shot. After 15 minutes it stalls and there is no gas in the fuel filter. If it sits over night the filter fills up and the engine runs fine for 15 minutes. I've replaced all the fuel lines and the filter. The gas cap is not clogged and removing it does not change things. I pulled the fuel line from the tan and gas gushes out. When I put the fuel line back on there is no flow. What simple and painfully obvious thing am I missing? Jason

Jason, When you say you replaced the fuel filter what did you use? If you used one for a car, it will not work on the tractor. You need a fuel filter designed to work with out a fuel pump. Try a differnet filter. Welcome to the club. Rick.......

yes, use the correct filter. i would go back and clean the complete fuel system again includeding carb. maybe the screen in the gas tank is clogged. since its been sitting, it never hurts to clean an re-gap the points

Thanks Rick. I did use a Briggs & Stratton fuel filter, but it was a different design than the one I replaced...actually looks a lot like the one on my car. I threw the old one back on and successfully cut the front yard. I'm not declaring victory yet, but that may have been the problem.
