correct arbor assembly

I have an older deck 990885 and I ordered new bearings , someone prior to me had it apart and some have several washers some do not , does anyone have a picture of the correct order of washers and what sizes or does it really not matter, i have already downloaded the manual but there are 3-4 washers they reference and they all have different parts #'s so I assume different washer sizes. and what is a flinger? A picture would be worth a thousand words if available.

in the parts diagram number 17 flinger is a grease flinger it is wider and thinner then number 3 washers. The two washers number 3 in the diagram set on top of the top bearing and the flinger sets on top of those two washers. The other number 3 washer sets all the way to the bottom of the arbor shaft then washer 5 sets on top of that. That washer is the thinnest of the three different sizes and is about the same outside diameter as the bearing itself.

When I rebuilt the 48 inch deck for my 716H, I got a friend to press the arbors apart. When I got the arbors back and tried to bolt them into the deck, neither the blade mounts nor the pulleys would line up correctly. I had to move the locations of several of the washers to get the blades and pulleys lined up. I assumed that was why each arbor had several of these washers on it. May not be the way they were designed, but it worked, and quite well.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
